Anesthetic
the uninhabited place
where i withdraw
empty
of pigment and light
contains primal
sensations of stupefying
numbness and soundlessness
i notice the silence and
the lack of response
i languish in the void
with a
hankering for a cut, a burn
a bruise
something raw
and throbbing
just to feel again
the memory
of your voice
breathes
vitality
and animation
stirs the heated air
around me
in this unscouted territory
of the monster of
abandonment
your breath
delivers me from the squall
into the safe harbor
once again
