"ENEMIES"
Who needs Enemies
When Ive got three,
ME, MYSELF and I.
No one can hate ME
as much as I do.
I look in the Mirror
and all I see there,
are my flaws.
I can hurt myself more
than any other Enemy could.
Ive looked in that mirror
for years.
Cant you see my streak of tears?
I know all the names
that can make me feel shame.
they are burnt in my mind
For all time.
WE know all the games to play
to kill the spirit within.
WE sit back and wait,
As we see the self esteem grow
in me,see all the hard work
that is needed for me to feel
self respect.
WE hide and wait to strike just as
I see Im seconds away from reaching self love,
and maybe starting to think,"hey Im worth loving!"
Then I look in the mirror
and I see my three enemies.
We need no real weapons.
Only words like "your nothing"
"you will never be worth anything"
"look at yourself""see the flaws?"
"we do" so will they,"your Imperfect"
"not loveable, you never were"
"your a failure" "you never finish anything"
"all your ugliness shows through"
"you will never fit in"
"your weak,look at you!"
"crying like a baby for its mommy"
"you cant do anything right"
"so come on,face it,you might as well
eat all that garbage,the crap that makes you fat"
"you cant hide behind the skinny healthy body"
"the smart ones see right through you"
"your only fooling yourself,"
"no matter what you do,how hard you try"
"look in the mirror,thats really you"
"That ugly little weak person"
So you drop to the floor,
Curl up and cry,closing your eyes
Wishing you could die.
If only you would look up in the mirror
you'd see us three,your worst enemies,
IS really just the little scared girl,
you used to be.
you would see there never were any Enemies.
Just the scared little girl,
who needs to be told she was and will always
be loveable,flaws and all,
Loved by you forever and ever.
